Level I Apprentice Brazing Registration
Your Apprentice that is currently attending Level I – Basic Trade school has an opportunity through ORAC and the JTAC to obtain their basic brazing certification while they are in school. Registration is for approved apprentice list that the JTAC provides ORAC to confirm who can be registered. The Trustees of the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee would like to have any Apprentice working for an ORAC member contractor only, Certified on the ORACBRZ/Cu-04 procedure. This is a 1 3/8” O.D. Copper to Copper test and would cover the Apprentice for any brazing on copper-to-copper joints from 1/4” up to 1 5/8” O.D.
This represents a cost saving to the contractor because the ORAC test fee is reduced to less than half and there is no labour paid to the Apprentice. The contractor also does not lose the Apprentice from their work schedule for a day.
Instructions before Registering
The apprentice’s employer must approve and pay the cost for this testing and application to TSSA for each 1st year apprentice testing while in Basic Level Trade School. The payment for Brazing Certificate is responsibilities of the Company, not the employee/s.
The fee breakdown is as follows:
1) The fee is $75.00 (+hst) per apprentice. In addition, a $134.00 (+hst) TSSA Fee per apprentice per certificate size. This fee is for TSSA for their inspector to check the brazing and sign off on the certificate. This fee will be included in the invoice.
2) When ORAC receives your registration, the office will send you an invoice to be paid before receiving a copy of the certificate.
